for sport aviation in and around the Cotswolds
The Gloster Strut is a local aviation group affiliated to the Light Aircraft Association and based in the Gloucestershire area. We cater for all aviation enthusiasts, from spotter to builder, taking in balloonists, trainee pilots, PPL holders and gyroplane exponents. Our Strut is open to all, and actively supports education through projects such as Young Aviators, Aviation Weekends for Scouts, and via the Education Strut.
We meet on the second Tuesday of each month at Aeros Flying Club, Gloucestershire Airport, starting at 7.30pm. Our strut has over 100 members, with a healthy proportion of members at each meeting.
In 1981 Dave Organ bought a Campbell Cricket gyroplane and has been flying it now for over 26 years. He had an interesting story to tell of the work he’s done to maintain and improve it.
Gloucester Strut Fly Out Programme 2008
It is proposed to hold 3 Fly outs this year as follows:
Full briefing notes (for members) will be provided for each event. These aim to cover everything you might want to know, and the Le Touquet event is designed to be suitable for ‘Channel Virgins’, with complete guidance on customs, flight plans, RT, etc., for those who haven’t yet ventured abroad to taste the considerable delights of flying in France.
Strut member Trevor Bailey worked until recently with Air Atlantique as manager of their Classic Flight. We were privileged to hear all about the operation of this unusual collection from the horse’s mouth.
